ISTC - Innovation & Skill Training Center

In a small, bustling town, there was a young girl named Ghausia Bano who had always dreamed of becoming a nurse. Raised in a close-knit family, she grew up with a strong sense of empathy, always trying to help others, even from a young age. After graduating high school, Ghausia quickly enrolled in a nursing assistant midwifery certificate program at Innovation and Skill Training Centre, eager to begin her journey in healthcare.

Ghausia’s first job was at a Alshifa Multi-speciality hospital. She was assigned to the geriatrics ward, where elderly patients with chronic conditions required constant care. The work was physically and emotionally demanding, but Ghausia was determined. She spent long hours helping patients with everything from bathing to feeding, and even comforting them during moments of fear or loneliness.

But something shifted in that moment. Ghausia wasn’t just a nurse anymore. She wasn’t just a caretaker. She became something more—someone who shared in the suffering, someone who understood what it meant to love and to lose.

One evening, after another grueling day, Ghausia sat in the break room, staring at the ceiling, contemplating her future. The thought of leaving crossed her mind, but she knew deep down she couldn’t abandon the people who needed her, even if it meant carrying a heavy emotional burden.

Ghausia wants to become a registered nurse, and while the physical tasks of the job remained challenging, it was the emotional resilience that she carried forward from her time as a nursing assistant that shaped her into the compassionate, dedicated nurse she would become.

Through her work, Ghausia  learned that the weight of compassion is both a gift and a burden—but in the end, it is the very thing that makes her heart whole.
